What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?
Leaky Gut is a state of hyperpermeability of the small intestinal lining. The leakiness happens when microscopic enlargements of the spaces between the cells, lining the gut become porous, which compromises the role of the gut as the filter for repeling pathogens and antigens.
As much as 80% of the immune system is based in the gut making it a critical component of good health and well-being.
In almost every chronic illness inflamation is at the "root" or the underlying cause.
Inflammation is one of the main causes of Leaky Gut.
So it is safe to say that most chronic health conditions have a root in the gut and are driven by inflammation which is the gateway through the gut barrier.

To keep us in good health, our gut relies on maintining a symbiotic relationship with trillions of microorganisms that live in our digestive tract. When our digestive system is out of wack, serious health problems can manifest and our intestinal walls can develop microscopic holes, allowing undigested food particles, bacteria, and toxins to seep into the bloodstream. This is know as "Leaky Gut Syndrome" and inflammation is at its root!
What Triggers Leaky Gut Syndrome?
Factors that affect the small intestines mucosal immunity are many: undigested food and protein peptides, antibiodies, stress, infections, cytokines, neurotransmitter dysfunction, lack of digestive enzymes, to name a few.

What Are the Symptoms of Leaky Gut (Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction)?
Intestinal Permeability (IP) also known as Leaky Gut can lead to food allergies and intolerances, immune abnormalities, autoimmunity ( any where in the body) and eventually influence the blood brain barrier (Leaky Brain) and can cause neuroautoimmunity.
